BUSCANDO A EUGENI FORCANO
Voy a ser tan riguroso con mi memoria como pueda.
Era 1994 (ó 1995) y estaba en la Barceloneta al acecho de imágenes con mi Nikon FM2. Iba hacia el rompeolas pero decidí parar antes y fotografiar la torre del funicular (entonces un bello cadáver), al volver hacia donde había aparcado mi moto (cerca de la escultura de Juan Muñoz), vi a un hombre que difícilmente podia pasar desapercibido.
Con traje y maletín negro miraba lo que debería ser un reloj de una manera curiosa en un entorno de grises claros. Una tentación fotográfica de alto voltaje. Disparé una vez y una segunda para luego reencuadrar horizontalmente y sentir que algo había sucedido. Volví a mirar pero toda la escena había cambiado, aun así volví a disparar un par de veces más como queriendo descomprimir la emoción que me había visitado.
Al cabo de unos minutos el hombre se me acercó y cuando estábamos a poca distancia le pedí la hora. No recuerdo si hubo respuesta. Recuerdo ver el medallón que llevaba puesto y también la sensación de que estaba ante una persona que emanaba un energía intensa.
Mucho más podría contar sobre lo que significa esta imagen para mi. Pero lo que me interesa compartir es el segundo descubrimiento que hice 24 (ó 23) años después.
Eugeni Forcano nos dejó en 2018 y su retrato pobló las noticias de cultura de muchos medios. Una sensación de cercanía me golpeo cuando lo volví a ver, su fisionomía, su collar. No tenia duda de que el hombre de “La leyenda del tiempo” (título que di a la imagen) era él. Nunca antes había conectado los puntos.
Hoy he escaneado los negativos y me he dado cuenta de otro detalle, un anillo, en la misma mano, en el mismo dedo.
Sé lo caprichosa y a veces imprecisa que puede ser la memoria. Por estos motivos, busco a gente que haya conocido a Eugeni Forcano para que me puedan confirmar si es él quien aparece en la imagen.

LOOKING FOR EUGENI FORCANO
I am going to be as rigorous with my memory as I can.
It was 1994 (or 1995) and I was in the Barceloneta on the lookout for images with my Nikon FM2. I was going towards the breakwater but I decided to stop before and photograph the funicular tower (then a beautiful corpse), when I returned to where I had parked my motorcycle (near the Juan Muñoz sculpture), I saw a man who could hardly go unnoticed.
In a black suit and briefcase, he was looking at what should be a watch in a curious way in a light grey environment. A high-voltage photographic temptation. I shot once and a second time, then reframed horizontally and feel that something had happened. I looked again but the whole scene had changed, even so I shot again a couple more times as if wanting to decompress the emotion that had visited me.
After a few minutes the man approached me and when we were a short distance away I asked him the time. I don't remember if there was an answer. I remember seeing the medallion that he was wearing and also the feeling that I was facing a person who was emanating an intense energy.
I could tell much more about what this image means to me. But what I am interested in sharing is the second discovery I made 24 (or 23) years later.
Eugeni Forcano left us in 2018 and his portrait populated the cultural news of many media. A feeling of closeness hit me when I saw him again, his physiognomy, his necklace. I had no doubt that the man in "The Legend of Time" (title I gave the image) was him. I have never connected the dots before.
Today I have scanned the negatives and I have noticed another detail, a ring, on the same hand, on the same finger.
I know how capricious and sometimes imprecise memory can be. For these reasons, I am looking for people who have known Eugeni Forcano so that they can confirm if he is the one who appears in the image.
